Cinema of Commoning 3: Introducing Our 2026 Partners!

Cinema of Commoning enters its third edition. In July 2026, we will gather at SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA in Berlin-Wedding to brainstorm, exchange ideas, watch films, and engage in discussion with film professionals and cinema enthusiasts from around the world. Together, we will develop new cinematic approaches and share moments in which cinema becomes truly commoned: not merely something we consume, but something we host, shape, and sustain together.
We are delighted to announce seven partner cinemas of this year across the globe, co-creating the programme and a shared space for exchange: from Cine Mayaka in Kigali (Rwanda) and Cine Tonalá in Mexico City (Mexico) to El Galpón Sala de Cine in Lima (Peru), Kült in Ankara (Turkey), the Maysles Documentary Center in New York (USA), Minikino in Bali (Indonesia), and Videobet in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
Together, we aim to strengthen the network, deepen the sense of community, and sustain the collaborative energy that has defined Cinema of Commoning from the outset. Through a collectively curated symposium and film programme, we seek to reclaim, expand, and reimagine cinematic spaces. These shared days open a space for encounter – keeping cinema alive as a community while imagining its future.
In the months surrounding the gathering, our website will host an expanded editorial programme of interviews, commissioned texts, and curated essays, building a growing archive and sustaining dialogue among community cinemas throughout the year.
We invite you to join us on this journey – whether in person or on Instagram.
